Father’s Day Gift Ideas

Now that I have a little one running around Father’s day takes on a whole new meaning…

While WT is the greatest gift I could hope for, when he gets bigger I hope he doesn’t fall into the cliche of getting me ties.

To make it easy on those shopping for father’s day (and to hopefully make a little to go towards the Farm building fund) – I have attached some links to some Amazon deals.  I tried to find useful stuff at good prices so that your Dad can get good presents.

Exciting New Development

DSCN0016We have been teaching for the past 10 years, and have been running the YouTube Channel and website in its current direction for the past couple, but we have had our dream to build a sustainable homestead/teaching center/community resource for the past 30.  It has taken us a long time to get to a point where we could expand.

We are very pleased to announce that we recently purchased 15+ acres in Wayne County TN and will, over time, begin to take our dream and shape it in the real world.

We looked long and hard to find the right land, in the right configuration, in the right area – and while Wayne county was outside our preference of an “easy” drive from Nashville, the land was so perfect in other areas that this plot won out. Continue reading →

William’s First Birthday

DSCN0824My boy turns one year old today, and nothing has changed my life in a more positive way than having such a wonderful son. It is so amazing to watch him grow, and to sit back and be amazed at how quickly he is developing.

Along with being so proud of my boy, I have to say one year ago my wife gave me a very special gift, and I don’t think I could have handled all she went through near as well.

My wife is a great mother, and she works very hard to take care of Tell’s physical needs so I can have the pleasure of his company without worrying about spit-up and messy diapers… Continue reading →

Homemade Diaper Rash Cream

nipple creamToday’s post is more baby medicine. Not only is this a great ointment for diaper rash it can be also used as a full body cream as well as healing ointment.

All ingredients promote healing and healthy skin.

  • coconut oil – antiviral, antifungal, anti-yeast
  • olive oil – antibacterial, antioxidant
  • shea butter – anti-inflammatory, moisturizer
  • cocoa butter – antiseptic, moisturizer
  • beeswax – anti-inflammatory

All Natural Breastfeeding Nipple Balm

nipple creamMy wife hates it when I talk about nipple cream in public, well I think its safe to say, everyone hates it when a overweight middle aged guy says nipple cream in public. However, in researching ways to help my wife as she fed our boy I learned about homemade nipple balm.

This comes from my experiments in using beeswax for other ointments and salves. However, because the boy may ingest some of this balm while eating, it does not have any beeswax in it because all beeswax has some trace amounts of honey, and honey may contain botulism spores, so babies should not be ingest honey until they are at least one year old.
