I am an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer, and as such occasionally teach the Range Safety Officer course. Running safe firearm ranges is very important to me.
Everytime a range has an accident or an instructor does something stupid in class it hurts our cause.
I am posting this Pamphlet from the Department of the Army to give one more resource on Range Safety so that anyone developing their own range can create proper range rules.
Running a safe range is more than good backstops and well posted rules. It is a mindset and the culture of accountability.
I may pay fast and loose with my own little projects and post videos of making something without fully mastering a concept, but anyone that has taken a firearm class with me knows that thats not how I am with guns.
With a firearm, a lax attitude or a lapse in judgement can kill, and not only do you have to deal with those very personal consequences, other gun owners in other states bear the consequences also.
Rabidly emotional gun grabbers seize any opportunity they have to create more laws diminishing and abridging our gun rights – so don’t let them. Be safe on the range.DA PAM 385-63 Range Safety
