FM 23-35 Combat Training With Pistols & Revolvers (1988) covers the basics of combat shooting of handguns.
This publication applies to the Active Army. It also is for the Army National Guard (ARNG)/Army National Guard of the United States (ARNGUS). Additionally, It also applies to the US Army Reserve (USAR) .
It provides guidance on the operation and marksmanship of the M9, 9mm pistol and the M11, 9mm pistol.
It reflects the Army standards in weapons qualification valid in the late 80’s . It is a guide for the instructor to develop training programs, plans, and lessons that meet the objectives of the US Army Marksmanship program for developing combat-effective marksmen. The Soldier develops confidence, knowledge, and skills by following the guidelines in this manual.
There has been some updates to the material, but the basic fundamentals of handgun marksmanship has not changed. This is a good basic manual that can get a person started shooting, or be used to troubleshoot and advance the skills of more experienced shooters.
