Alcohol Manufacture is generally illegal in the United States, but that means there is a lot of misconceptions and just plain wrong information being spread.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I get in a discussion about home wine making someone says “you can make X amount of moonshine a year for home consumption”. Not true
You cannot make a drop of distilled liquor without a very expensive federal license.
There is an seperate set of rules for fuel alcohol, but there is no way to legally make drinking liquor at home.
Now this PDF below is probably useless, it was most likely written by a teenager or an adult that never made a drop of alcohol.
However, it does give me a chance to show this fine distillation device above.
Once again, I will say that home alcohol manufacture is illegal, don’t do it, and especially don’t try to sell it.
Ownership of a still is legal (at least at the time of writing and to the best of my knowledge) – I have a couple that I use to purify water.
Home distillation of water is one of the very best ways to make water safe to drink. Just don’t try to purify wine – its not worth it.
