Low Cost Development of Small Water Power Sites is written to assist peace corps and other volunteers. It is for hands on projects in rural areas of third world countries. To my way of thinking this makes it perfect for the small homesteader or prepper. What works in a third world should work here, even after a disaster.
I particularly like the alternative method for measuring head of a stream when a surveyor’s level is not available. It is tedious. I now know how to measure how high the hill at my land. Yes I thought of using a topo map. However, it is not accurate enough or precise enough for what I need.
This is an example of what I said a few posts back about Macgyvering. You need a bunch of knowledge to be flexible. Creative people with a large body of knowledge can figure out almost anything.
You just need a large enough body of knowledge and the skill at connecting the dots.
