A MAK-90 is just a Chinese “Type 56”, which is an AKM with slight design modifications to make it import friendly; mostly cosmetic. Many Chinese Type 56’s retained the old milled receiver of the AK-47 rather than the stamped one of the AKM, and they lacked a slanted muzzle compensator, but they adopted some of the other features of the AKM, such as the recoil reducer.
