The Micro Hydro Power PDF document in this post reviews the concept in a unique way. This document is exactly what the title says. The document is a review of something an old concept that has discussed and tried to great extent. My website has covered much of this information in the posts of the past week. I like how the information is presented, which is why I added the document to this site.
I especially like the decision tree at the start of the document. If you have a year round flow of water and are thinking of micro hydro, then this tree will make some of the process easier.
This is not a huge document, it is only 46 pages, but it comes from the National Center for Appropriate Technology, and I got it off of my CD3WD set so it contains information proven correct. Furthermore it is immediately usable in the field.
For those that don’t already know about NCAT
The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) has been promoting sustainable living for over 40 years. Established in 1976, they are a national nonprofit that helps people by championing small-scale, local, and sustainable solutions. Their goal is to reduce poverty, promote healthy communities, and protect natural resources. NCAT was originally created during the oil crisis of the 1970s to develop inexpensive energy-saving strategies for low-income communities.
While they are a little hippy granola for me. Alternatively, they probably find a bunch of things on this site to be a little too conservative. There are a lot preppers can learn from the sustainable living crowd. For me, I don’t care as much about the differences between people, or where an idea comes from. I care about how ideas and experiences can help make life better.
