Overshot and Current Water Wheels is a document from Montana State University, they studied microhydro sites throughout their state to find out what does and does not work, then they wrote a paper explaining exactly what to do so that farms and ranches could have access to rural power.
Its nice to see a academic document that is geared to helping the layman actually construct something useful. This document has a lot of calculations as well as explanations for those calculations.
It also give construction tips on sourcing metal parts from scrounged farm machines.
